I am a high school student trying to get into Texas Tech Univ honors college. I have a 3.9 on a 4.0 GPA scale required to come in is 3.4. ACT requirement is 29, but I think I will get more like a 24-27 but I have two letters of recommendation, one from a Texas Monthly Power Lawyer and the other a member of the TTU Health Sciences Center Board of Regents, which is extremely popular around the TTU. He says he knows lots of people at TTU honors college admissions. Do you think I can get access to TTU honors college, although my ACT score is a little bit lower? PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!!!
Let me tell you on a little secret ….. ACT score does not really matter when you get into college. My brother got in TTU without scores, and he graduated high school without actually should go to class. He's a sharp kid, but scores and pieces of paper saying how smart you are does not mean a thing. It's not about what you know, it's who you know. You will learn the honest sense that when you get in. Just learn to network and you'll be fine.

Understanding Popular Science $41.98 Science is a defining feature of the modern world, and popular science is where most of us make sense of that fact. Understanding Popular Science provides a framework to help understand the development of popular science and current debates about it. In a lively and accessible style, Peter Broks shows how popular science has been invented, redefined and fought over. From early-nineteenth century radical science to twenty-first century government initiatives, he examines popular science as an arena where the authority of science and the authority of the state are legitimized and challenged. The book includes clear accounts of the public perception of scientists, visions of the future, fears of an anti-science movement and concerns about scientific literacy. The final chapter proposes a new model for understanding the interaction between lay and expert knowledge. This book is essential reading in cultural studies, science studies, history of science and science communication. |
