Legal Action available at a Magazine Scam?
I bought a magazine subscription from a door to door idiot back in July and still have not received them. I finally found the number to the company and will try to contact them, but in reading past replys and problems that I want to be prepared to handle ends meet. Is there any lawsuit that I can take (or at least threaten) the firm of trying to get my money back?
First and foremost, you need a credit card? If so you can get your credit card company to reverse charge. If you used a check or cash your use is probably limited to small claims court. Form them for a refund Here are a few other ideas: Report them to Better Business Bureau Tell your local police department – call it a scam, you can try to shame them meet if you have a case news consumer reporter in your area are willing to talk to them. Ring magazine company directly to see if they can do anything.

I think all Nigerians have a PhD in psychology and are the number one in scamming techniques which are done in stages for you to keep sending money. Scamming is part of their culture no matter the educational level. There was a front-page column in the Wall Street Journal about Nigerians scamming about twenty years ago. Once in a while you will see a news report of the Nigerian government raiding computer centers "arresting" scammers trying to improve their world image but scanning still goes on today and Nigeria is listed as one of the most corrupt countries in the world. With the technology in copying and printing documents that can look "very" official. (Be my legal partner.) Be prepared once you answer a scam your e-mail address will be passed around. |
