Debt collection agency send me letters to more than one year, but nothing shows on credit report?

I used to cut to the Time Magazine. During my subscription, they used a very dirty trick. they sent me 3 books in 3 different occasions without my request. Inside the package it says that if you do not pay it then you sent it back. It is pure harassment, it costs me money to send stuff back to them, so I ignored them. and for this reason I did not renew my subscription. Several collections sent me letters for over a year now. a recent letter I received was from SKO Brenner American Inc asking me to pay. I've been checking my credit report many times Nothing in the collection. Should I do anything about it?

The previous answer is correct, but let me add some more info. Credit bureaus only report what creditors tell them. Apparently, either Time Magazine or collections have bothered to submit a report about you, at least so far. Be thankful for it. If they have posted A report would be negative and has an account in collections lowers your credit score by a lot. But the fact that they did not tell the credit bureaus anything yet has nothing to do with whether you owe money. When you agreed to receive the first book (which I am sure that was probably offered "completely free", blah-blah-blah) there was fine print that said you will keep getting books until you tell them to stop, and you have to send them back or pay. That is the way these Deals are always set up and I'm sure that's what you signed as well. It is not harassment, but it's damned devious. Unfortunately, it is also perfectly legal. You signed paper or sent back the card and then you are expected to have read everything, even the boring small print:. Bottom line you owe money. You may get them to give up call yourself – a lot depends on how much money is involved, and the three books is not so much money – but it does not change the fact that they are lawfully entitled to money and could at some point notify the credit bureau. You next step depends on what you think they will do. You can pay them off and be done with it. You could offer collection agency some amount of compromise, perhaps half of what they say you owe. Or you can just ignore them and hope they will give up without submitting a credit report. Eventually, they probably will stop ringing, but until then it's a hassle, obviously. In the meantime, be glad that they have not compromised your credit yet. It is their big weapon but chances are they will not use if, as they have not used it yet.
