Since you use the word "scam" in your question, it seems that you have answered your own question. I know nothing about "Universal Subscription Agency, and will not make potentially libelous statements against it. But I can share the experience I had with one another, but unnamed (for the same reason) internet subscription agency: After ordering 5 journals (three went to my mother at a different address), they sent me an e-mail after three months tells me that two of the magazines were no longer available. It was when I learned the hard way that even legit clearing houses (ie third parties who sell unsold magazines, newspapers, etc.) are powerless to know whether a given magazine or newspaper is available at any given time. In another example, I used my frequent flyer miles to subscribe to five magazines from the airline, which uses a second clearing house, a week later I got an email saying that none was available! I beat my miles back, but it was extremely frustrating because I was really looking forward to them one was a very expensive architecture, industry-only magazine, which was offered for ridiculously low miles, the airline told me that it had nothing to do with the fact that it was too in-the-industry people only because the airline insists that magazines offered through them accessible to everyone. IMHO, it is unreasonable for clearing houses to wait so long before telling subscribers of such "bad" news. A month, maybe, but not three! They would not refund the difference of the two magazines (the was a fixed price of $ 30 for five magazines, which sounds great, * if * you receive them!). I have chosen different journals, but these were out, too! It is enough saying that it took nearly two years before I finally got everything I wanted. Worse, their online customer service was incredibly difficult to use, and no customer service person answered their phones, even after waiting for 15 minutes with unbearable piped music. As for the magazines, which I have received, they were okay, but it took 10-20 weeks " before they first came, so keep an account which I did, so you know what you have ordered when they first arrived and how many questions you actually received. With such bad experiences, you may be put off subscribing to all, but sometimes the easiest thing to do is to contact the magazine directly and tell them that you saw an ad for a very cheap rate as if you can prove it can give you very satisfactory results.
