White chocolate banana cream pie?
When I lived in the countries I have subscribed to a food and wine magazine, which had a brilliant recipe for white chocolate banana cream pie. It was a matter of 10-12 years ago. When I moved back to England, I had mom pack some of my stuff, and (gasp) she had thrown out magazines! This one had a pastry crust as opposed to a crumb crust, and had no dark or milk chocolate or booze in it. If anyone knows the recipe, or similar, please let me know
Sorry, the only thing I could have banana liquet in them, but here you go. It still has pastry crust as you have asked for white chocolate BANANA Cream Pie 1 prepared pie dough sheets 3 egg yolks 1 / 4 cup sugar 1 / 8 cup cornstarch 1 cup whole milk 1 vanilla bean – split lengthwise 1 T. butter – sliced diced pieces 2 ounces white chocolate – melted 4 ripe bananas – sliced 1 / 4 inch thick 1 T. lemon juice 1 cup heavy cream – whipped to foam 1 1 / 2 T. banana liqueur 6 ounces white chocolate – cut into curls Cocoa powder – for garnish Crust: On a lightly floured surface, roll out one sheet of pie dough to suit a 10 "pie pan. Place dough in pan, and trim edges. Prick evenly with a fork and bake at 450 degrees F for 9-11 minutes, until golden. Remove and let cool. Filling: In a large bowl whisk together egg yolks and sugar. Add the cornstarch and whisk to combine. Meanwhile, in a saucepot, bring milk and vanilla bean to a boil. Remove from heat and discard vanilla bean. Pipes 3 T. of milk into egg mixture and return the milk to the oven at low heat. Slowly add egg mixture to milk and stir until it comes to a boil. Remove from heat; and stir in butter and the melted white chocolate. Cover and refrigerate. To assemble cake, thrown bananas 1 T. lemon juice and set aside. Fold the whipped heavy cream into chilled filling. Then fold in bananas and banana liqueur. Fill pie shell with the prepared filling and top with white chocolate curls. Dust with cocoa powder and serve.
