When stop deteriorating vision in children who wear glasses?
I have one sixteen year old daughter who needs new glasses every six years in the last four years. She has previously been diagnosed with convergence insufficiency and a dot Mittendorfer. She got her first pair of glasses at the age of nine. Bad vision runs in the family, nine out of 12 of her immediate family members including goggles, but none of them has shown constant, chronic worsening vision she was experiencing. Her vision has gone from -1 to -4 Dioptres in the past four years, which maps to about 20/200. She is severely hearing impaired so crystal clear vision is very important for her to maximize her ability to to read lips. Her ophthalmologist was useless other than issuing new prescriptions. Yes I know, get a second doctor, unfortunately, easier said than done when my insurance plan. Any ideas on what can cause this when it can stop, or things we can explore to make it stop?

LASIK surgery is probably not advisable for the same reason at that time either. growth will probably stop after age 18-20. it is expensive to get a second opinion, you might consider an opinion at a time to check this or what your primary eye doctor does, good luck
