How can you make a custom turbo, or use the compressor from salvage vehicles?

I read on the internet a while ago that you can use turbo or compressor from salvaged vehicles to fit in your car (mine is an '91 integration), but now I cannot find the website everywhere. Honda tunning Magazine had an article some time ago, but it has never given details of how the parts, or where? plus never returned my emails (wonder why?) Because I cannot afford to misletoe my rear hole and pay $ 3,000 in the shop and aftermarket parts, I would love to make one myself, I like to go to yunk yards, I keep running into Volvos and Mecedes Bens and Mini Cooper S with parts available starting at $ 100, it would be a great project! Please Yahoo question Pimp My Ride!

The good news is that my friend did it about eight years back. So I know everything he did on this … even the mistakes he made. Basically he went around to save the farm and took a turbo from the Buick. He usually took them up for $ 100 – $ 350 He actually owned his own muffler / radiator shop so it was easy for him. Basically he weld a flange the headlines and then he made custom pipes that went from turbo to the intercooler. From there he tailored some more pipes from intercooler to throttle body. He actually made his own intercooler by getting an intercooler core and then pick a 3 1 / 2 inch tube in half and used each half to endtanks the intercooler. He closed up the bottom and top with some metal plates. He Cust a three inch hole in endtanks and welded a 3 inch diameter pipes for each side. Honestly it does not look all that great, so I would recommend buying a cheap intercooler for about $ 200 – $ 300 This will save you time, but you will spend about $ 100 more in advance of buying a building intercooler. But bascially it's so easy to mount a turbo on your application. Now problem he had when doing this, he did nothing in regards to his tuning. He blew shorly his engine and had to have it rebuilt. Later down the road, he bought the larger injectors a bigger fuel pump, and he got it all adapted melody using of a hondata system. As you can see it would be costly part where it cost him about a $ 1,000. An inexpensive alternative is to run larger fuel injectors with a larger pump and use an FMU. You can save about $ 600.00 by going in that direction. It will not work as well as a custom tune Hondata (chip), but it will work perfectly you will not have to worry about blowing your engine. Use and FMU instead of a chip will save you money. Basically it was a rundown of what he did. Here is a list of parts you need. * Turbo compressor * Headers made turbo * Intercooler * Waste Gate * Pipes * sleeves for connecting pipes * Blow Off Valve * Boost controller (optional) * turbo Timer (optional) * Oil feed and oil lines * fuel injectors * Fuel pump * FMU or Chip (hondata, EMS … etc), so basically it is Most of the items you will need. I could have left some things out but these should be the main parts. As you can see it will still end up costing a lot. You are still looking around $ 1500 – $ 2000 for a setup, it will not blow your engine. I would suggest that you buy is to look at a book written by "corky Bell" book called "turbo" It bascially tells you how to make your own turbo system. He also has a book titled "supercharged" which explains how to make a supercharger setup. I'll explain how to create a supercharger system, however, this effect will be slightly harder because you have to make brackets and other things. The turbo is easier way to go.
