Jay Leno said that he was liberal on social issues but conservative on fiscal issues?
He gave an example of a financial policy issues such as bank bailouts and how he dissaproves of them. He also gave an example of social issues he has voted for same-sex marriage. What about social programs? Do they count as fiscal issues and he wants to cut down on them? I'm just curious on what makes him different from liberal and conservative. I know there are a lot of people on certain issues not always agree with their poltical party.
This is actually a common position here in California, one shared by our Governor Arnold. The details of the fiscal conservative / social liberal vary from person to person, so it's hard to say what Jay Leno specifically thinking, says welfare. The typical California fiscal conservative / social liberal believes that the government should reduce taxes and reign in spending in general. At the same time that the Liberal Party, or at least social moderate, they are generally pro-choice, pro-access to contraception, pro-gay rights and against the introduction of Christianity in government, so this puts them at odds with the Republican party core.
