Arizona Highways Magazines

I am pleased to give one of them as a gift, but I gave one of them last year as a gift and was told that all the places they advertise in other countries (other than Mexico or the U.S.) and they were basically just full of ads. I not remember which of the two was great. I will be giving them to my mother and grandfather who like hiking and rock and fossil hunting and arowhead. Which would be best for them? My grandfather retired in Mexico and my mother in Arizona, but they raise the lower states and Mexico often. I would like to find something with only the United States and Mexico featured if it possible. Proposal for other good magazines are appreciated. I'm already considering Arizona Highways but there are other good for their specific hobby?

As far as I understand National Geographic Adventure is focused on athletic outdoor pursuits (hiking, biking, climbing, canoeing, skiing, etc.), while National Geographic Traveler is focused on tourism (places, culture, etc.) I do not think either magazine is limited to your local geographic area, and all the magazines these days are full of ads. NGA is probably closer your relatives' interests, but it is certainly not a perfect match because of its large focus, which includes activities that they may have no interest in. Backpacking Magazine is probably a better bet for the hiker, but note that any exercise focused magazine is turning into gear / tech-geek-appeal.
